Friday’s Food for Thought

We’ve had an incredible week here at GrowBuyEat: we launched the new version of our site, met some really great farmers and learned a lot of valuable things about the food industry.  We’re excited to take these lessons forward and apply them to our site to make the user experience incredible.  Don’t forget to check our blog and website next week for some key updates – we’ve got some exciting things coming through the pipeline!

Stay Cool, Cambridge! (Lemonade Recipe)

It’s scorching hot outside of our Cambridge offices this Wednesday morning. As a public service announcement, we’ve provided some tantalizing lemonade recipes to keep you cool! We know how tough it can be to stay cool in this heat, but a big glass of lemonade and a quick dip in the ocean can go a long way. We’ve been working hard this week to bring you the products you need – a cool glass of lemonade is definitely in store. Look for more blog posts next week, as we begin our “Producer of the Week” series, where we will profile a different producer every week.
1 cup sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup)
1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
1 cup lemon juice
3 to 4 cups cold water (to dilute)
1 Make simple syrup by heating the sugar and water in a small saucepan until the sugar is dissolved completely.
2 While the sugar is dissolving, use a juicer to extract the juice from 4 to 6 lemons, enough for one cup of juice.
3 Add the juice and the sugar water to a pitcher. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water, more or less to the desired strength. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon juice to it.
Serve with ice, sliced lemons.
